THE GIFF SCHOOL FESTIVAL

32ND EDITION – FROM 30 october TO 8 NOVEMBER 2026

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

For its 32nd edition, the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) returns with new offerings designed for schools. Since 1995, the Festival has been presenting stories in a variety of formats to the public. Whether in the form of series, films, or immersive works, the GIFF’s programming seeks to explore the boundless realms of digital media.
In 2026, an expanded program for schoolchildren is being launched, featuring not only immersive virtual reality works to introduce students to the diversity of today’s audiovisual formats, but also screenings of series exploring themes such as the use of artificial intelligence in contemporary audiovisual creation, deepfakes and their impact on today’s societies, social issues related to racial minorities, as well as recent Swiss history through an examination of the scandal involving children in foster care, and the history of cinema through the life story of a pioneering feminist artist.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ALL YEAR ROUND

The GIFF (Geneva International Film Festival) visits schools to give students the opportunity to experience virtual reality works and to lead discussions on the historical and current challenges of these new technologies and our relationship with the digital world. The artistic program is tailored to the topics covered in class.

The GIFF has a mobile trailer that serves as a screening space, set up directly in the schoolyard for multi-day residencies capable of hosting twenty classes in a week.

The residency dates, duration, and program are determined jointly by the school and the GIFF.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AT THE FESTIVAL

32nd EDITION – OCTOBER 30 TO NOVEMBER 8, 2026

For its 32nd edition, the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) returns with new offerings designed for school groups. Since 1995, the Festival has presented stories in a variety of formats to the public. Whether in the form of series, films, or, more recently, immersive works in virtual, mixed, or augmented reality (XR), GIFF’s programming seeks to explore the infinite realms of the digital world.

The Festival invites its audience to experience digital works designed to renew our perspective on cinema and new technologies. Each year, GIFF offers in-class workshops and programming initiatives aimed at promoting film literacy and raising awareness of digital creation.

The Festival thus aims to broaden our perspectives through digital media, while providing the tools needed to develop a critical and constructive view of the media.

The festival’s educational program is announced a few weeks before the event.
