As a pandemic fuels widespread violence, Annie, a young Bangladeshi nurse, struggles every day to protect her family, who is confined to an apartment. A dystopian fable.
Already well-versed in the study of gender dynamics in film, Abdullah Mohammad Saad presents a series with very contemporary themes, set in a subtle science-fiction universe. For some time now, the “red disease” has been gaining ground: while it primarily infects men, it is women who are truly the victims, as they suffer the repercussions. Since her parents’ disappearance, Annie has been the sole protector of her five siblings in the face of the uncertainty that reigns outside their home. One night, she is attacked, and then everything changes… Taking the form of a stifling, closed-door drama tinged with the blue hue characteristic of its creator, this Bangladeshi series explores the social violence of a dystopian world—one that may not be so far removed from our own.
