This year, the GIFF is dedicating its POP TV program to music videos, an iconic format in audiovisual creation that is constantly being reinvented by new distribution methods. The music video is inextricably linked to dance, yet those who choreograph them are all too often overlooked. In this program, (re)discover some of the iconic music videos by Belgian dancer and choreographer Damien Jalet.

The music video is inextricably linked to dance, yet those who choreograph them are all too often overlooked. In this program, (re)discover some of the iconic music videos by Belgian dancer and choreographer Damien Jalet.
Damien Jalet has been in the spotlight in recent months, creating a buzz with his spectacular choreography for Gener8ion’s music video Storm, directed by Romain Gavras. As an associate choreographer with the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, he has created several works there in recent years, including Mondes flottants in 2022 and Mirages in 2025, followed by Océans, which premiered in November 2026. At the same time, Damien Jalet has been collaborating extensively with major musicians and filmmakers: Thom Yorke on the music video for ANIMA, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson; Skrillex for Xena; Elton John and Brandi Carlile for Swing for the Fences, directed by Xavier Dolan; and Madonna for Confessions II – The Film.
