This year, the GIFF is dedicating its POP TV program to music videos, an iconic format in audiovisual creation that is constantly being reinvented by new distribution methods. In this program, (re)discover some of the iconic music videos by Belgian dancer and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
A leading figure in the contemporary Belgian arts scene, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is both a dancer and a choreographer and brings together the worlds of dance, ballet, and opera on stages all over the world. He also directed the Grand Théâtre de Genève during the 2022–2023 season. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous musicians on the choreography for their music videos, including Woodkid (winner of the GIFF Film & Beyond Award in 2020), Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Tamino, and Plaza Francia.
