In the midst of the energy crisis of the 1970s, two accomplices claim they can help a French company locate oil from the sky. A mad rush for energy.

“In France, we don’t have oil, but we have ideas,” was a common refrain in the early 1970s. Eager for success, Arnaud de Toledo, a Belgian aristocrat, and Florindo Bonamici, an Italian inventor, hatched a scam targeting Elf Aquitaine: they claimed to have developed a miracle technology that would allow them to locate oil using airplanes! Behind its polished retro aesthetic and a story loosely based on the scandalous “Sniffer Planes” affair, the series by Tarek Haoudy and Nacim Mehtar—brought to life by the direction of Louis Farge, director of Culte (2024–2025)—resonates in an era of energy dependence and climate concerns regarding the future of our societies. Starring Jérémie Renier, Laurent Capelluto, Karim Leklou, Marie Colomb, and David Marsais.
