A poignant portrayal, sublimely performed by Andrew Scott, of the life of actor Ian Charleson (Chariots of Fire, 1981), when he returns to the stage to play Hamlet while severely weakened by AIDS.

Reduced to his performance in the film Chariots of Fire (1981)—a role that defined his career—Scottish actor Ian Charleson is searching for a part that will inspire him once again. When the coveted role of Hamlet at the National Theatre in London becomes available, Ian sets his sights on auditioning, but at that very moment, he receives the diagnosis: he has AIDS. Andrew Scott, fully immersed in the character of Charleson, delivers an extraordinary and moving performance, embodying the unwavering courage of a man who fought not only for his dreams but also against discrimination and homophobic prejudice. Filmed with great tenderness by Simon Stone, Scott stars opposite the excellent Olivia Colman in this powerful drama inspired by a true story, and which won the International People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
