In an arena where everything seems predetermined, Mélanie Courtinat’s Indulto subverts video game conventions to better explore our fascination with violence. Controller in hand, the viewer takes on the role of a bullfighter in pursuit of a bull that has fallen from the sky. As the confrontation draws near, the controls become absurd, the movements impossible, and the freedom of choice erodes until the ultimate dilemma arises: to kill or spare the animal. An interactive tragedy about free will, spectacle, and the rules to which we agree to submit.
