In this classic of Taiwanese cinema, iconic director Tsai Ming-liang exposes the precarious living conditions on the outskirts of major cities through the story of a homeless father and his two children struggling to survive.

Tipped about ten years ago as potentially being Tsai Ming-liang’s final film (fortunately, that wasn’t the case), Stray Dogs has proven to be one of the filmmaker’s most radical works due to its minimalism and rigor. A father spends his days in Taipei working as a sandwich board man in exchange for a meager stipend that allows him to provide for his two children, who roam the streets in search of free food. One evening, he decides to take them on a trip. A leading figure of New Taiwanese Cinema, Tsai Ming-liang once again teams up with his frequent collaborator  actor Lee Kang-sheng, to deliver a haunting epic, a masterpiece of austere beauty. Grand Jury Prize at the 70th Venice Film Festival in 2013.
