Björn Stein, Saturday November 7.
A group of friends launches an investigation after a teenager drowns near Svärtan Island. What they discover there puts their relationships—and their lives—at risk.
Back after presenting Whiskey on the Rocks at GIFF in 2024, Björn Stein immerses the public in an atmosphere of mystery and ambiguity, somewhere between a teen thriller and a fantasy fable. In the summer of 1985, Johannes is about to experience an unforgettable vacation, surrounded by his friends in an archipelago near Stockholm. This idyllic getaway comes to an abrupt end when the lifeless body of a young man is found near the mythical island of Svärtan. Intrigued, the group ventures there and brings back with them what will turn out to be the source of many misfortunes. This adaptation of the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, marks the end of their innocence, accompanied by classic 1980s tunes and the relentless tide of our most secret dark sides.
