An US couple begins to harbor suspicions about the intentions of two immigrants to whom they rent a small house. A blend of biting humor and a suspenseful thriller.
With their relationship on the rocks, Sean and Kim decide to rent out their guest house to make some money before finally splitting up. The plan goes as expected when the rental is assigned to Amir and Jahan, a brother and sister who are immigrants. However, small details in their behavior gradually plunge Sean and Kim into paranoia. By playing with genre conventions and infusing them with well-timed dark humor, filmmaker Kevin Hamedani exposes the xenophobia and prejudices of United States society in a thriller that is as playful as it is formidable, with suspense that builds seamlessly. Adam Scott, Danielle Deadwyler, Kate Berlant, and Theo Rossi bring this alarming satire to life.
