In presence of
Pegah Ahangarani, Tuesday November 3. A poignant portrayal of the activist journey of five people close to director Pegah Ahangarani during nearly 40 years of political repression in Iran, which won the Œil d'or at Cannes.
A committed journalist, former actress, and now filmmaker, Pegah Ahangarani has consistently opposed the current Iranian regime. Through a passionate documentary that weaves its way through a remarkable collection of archival footage, the director, who now lives in London, pays a stirring tribute to her loved ones and the oppressed Iranian people by bringing to life the stories of five of her close relatives. From family Super 8 film to sound archives, from institutional footage to animation, these intimate testimonies, interwoven with broader historical events, give free rein to the voices of activists past and present. A debut feature film that is as invigorating as it is courageous, coupled with a passionate call to resistance.
